Thank you for comments and your research, it’s appreciated. I’m slowly growing to appreciate the marine shipping industry :)

Hey again Stephen. Did some checking on the horn placement. There’s no rhyme or reason where they are situated on the classic lakers. Some have them on the funnel, some on the pilot house roof and some have them in both locations. Happy shooting.

Thank you for your interest, Peter. I’ll post others as time permits. There’s a lot more here if you choose to see more:

Hey Stephen. So happy your Bigships site is back up. I think 400mm is more than enough for ships. Though this image was taken with the Sigma 150-600 on a Canon 7D Mark II, it was set at 374mm for this shot. I normally use the Canon 100-400 for ships but stepped up for the bigger Sigma Zoom to be used on a Canon 5D Mark III full frame camera that I recently picked up.

Curiosity – are the horns mounted by the stack on most classics? That horn’s gotta be huge..

Very nice – I’m envious of the big lens you guys are using – clearly on the 600m range..

I only just got 400mm and it’s still not enough! It’s like shooting trains at 50mm by comparison..
